Over
the next few months she won many Puppy Blues.
In
April, at just over a year old, Molly developed
closed pyometra
and had to be spayed. We are happy
to
have our precious little girl back to normal.
In the summer of 2006 we noticed Molly dragging
her left foot. Since she was spayed
we didn't have her hips checked. Our Vet then
found that she has mild dysplasia in her left hip.
Ok, so we could deal with this...not so bad
right? Wrong! She continued to get worse. We
came to the conclusion that along with her bad
hip she probably has Degenerative Myelopathy!
This is now April of 2007. She has some pretty
bad days when she has a lot of trouble
getting around. The pictures above were taken on
a good day. Fortunately, those good days
still outnumber her bad days and she is not in
pain. But we know what is coming.
What is so sad is that our Molly just turned 8,
far too young for this insidious disease to be
taking over her body.
I haven't seen her lift her tail in months.
Note her right rear foot knuckling. (above)
May 2007
In the past few days, I've noticed Molly standing
on her knuckles more and more. She is having more difficulty
standing. Her legs cross and she falls to a sitting position. The
stairs are getting harder to maneuver. She must be helped both
up and down.
FYI - The scaring on her legs is from tumors that
were removed several years ago.
More pictures as the
disease progresses.
Please be patient as there are many photos that will need to
load. |
